Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Safari and 2003 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install a new oil level indicator tube seal into the transmission case.
  2. Install the oil level indicator tube into the seal.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Caution and Notices.
  3. Install the bolt securing the oil level indicator tube bracket to the transmission.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 47 N.m (35 lb ft).

  4. Remove the drain pan from under the vehicle.
  5. Lower the vehicle.
  6. Install the bolt securing the oil level indicator tube bracket to the engine.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  7. Fill the transmission with DEXRON® III transmission fluid. Refer to TRANSMISSION FLUID CHECKING PROCEDURE .
