Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Safari and 2003 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE: Do not start the engine with any power steering hose disconnected, or damage to the components could occur.
  1. Install the hydraulic brake booster outlet hose to the vehicle.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Connect the hydraulic brake booster outlet hose to the hydraulic brake booster.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the hydraulic brake booster outlet hose to the hydraulic brake booster to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  3. Connect the hydraulic brake booster outlet hose to the power steering gear.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the hydraulic brake booster outlet hose to the power steering gear to 27 N.m (20 lb ft).

  4. Remove the drain pan.
  5. Install the hydraulic brake booster outlet hose tie straps.

  6. Bleed the system. Refer to BLEEDING THE POWER STEERING SYSTEM .
