Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Safari and 2003 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (CARGO DOORS)  or TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR DOOR (E54)  .
  2. Separate the water deflector at the perforations. Use a sharp-bladed tool for proper access, if needed. Refer to WATER DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT .
  3. Remove the control rods (1, 2) from the lock assembly.
    1. 3.1. Pry the clip anchor out of the hole.
    2. 3.2. Push the clip away from the lever.
    3. 3.3. Pull the rod and the clip away from the lever.
  4. Remove the screws (3) that retain the lock to the door.
  5. Remove the lock from the door.
