Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Safari and 2003 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the new rear axle housing cover gasket and the rear axle housing cover.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  2. Install the rear axle housing cover bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the rear axle housing cover bolts to 30 N.m (22 lb ft).

  3. Fill the rear axle. Use the proper fluid. Refer to SPECIFICATIONS in General Information.
  4. Install the rear axle fill plug.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the rear axle fill plug to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

  5. Lower the vehicle.
