Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Safari and 2003 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to AIR CLEANER ASSEMBLY in Removal & Installation.
  2. Recover the refrigerant from the system. Refer to REFRIGERANT RECOVERY AND RECHARGING .
  3. Remove the grille. Refer to GRILLE REPLACEMENT in Exterior Trim.
  4. Loosen the compressor hose assembly nut at the condenser.
  5. Remove the compressor hose assembly from the condenser.
  6. Loosen the evaporator tube nut at the condenser.
  7. Remove the evaporator tube from the condenser.
  8. Remove the center support bracket. Refer to SUPPORT REPLACEMENT - CENTER in Body Front End.
  9. Remove the bolts that retain the condenser to the radiator.
  10. Remove the condenser from the radiator.

  11. Remove and discard the O-ring seals.
