Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Safari and 2003 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the thermostat.
  2. Install the coolant outlet.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE in Cautions and Notices.
  3. Install the bolt and the bolt/stud.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt and the bolt/stud to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  4. Install the ground lead to the bolt/stud.
  5. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to ENGINE CONTROLS - REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in Engine Controls-4.3L.
  6. Refill the coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
  7. Start the engine. After the engine reaches normal operating temperature, check for coolant leaks.
