Parking Brake Actuator: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 GMC Safari and 2003 Chevrolet Astro. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install parking brake actuator lever housing to the backing plate.
  2. Remove all traces of the original adhesive patch. Clean bolt threads with brake parts cleaner and allow to dry. Apply Loctite(R) to bolt threads.
  3. Install backing plate bolts. Tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  4. Install park brake shoe.
  5. Install axle shaft.
  6. Adjust parking brake shoe. See PARKING BRAKE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
  7. Install brake rotor.
  8. Install rear parking brake cable to parking brake actuator lever.
  9. Install parking brake cable to mounting bracket until locking tabs snap into place.
  10. Install wheels.
  11. Remove safety stands and lower vehicle.
  12. Adjust parking brake cable. See PARKING BRAKE  under ADJUSTMENTS.
