Brake Rotor (Rear): Removal

NOTE: Support brake caliper with wire whenever it is separated from its mount and hydraulic flexible brake hose is still connected. Failure to support caliper in this manner will cause flexible brake hose to bear the weight of the caliper, which may cause damage to brake hose and in turn may cause a brake fluid leak.
  1. Release parking brake.
  2. Raise and support vehicle.
  3. Remove wheels.
  4. Mark the relationship of the rotor to the hub.
  5. Remove brake caliper bracket mounting bolts.
    6. NOTE: DO NOT disconnect hydraulic brake flexible hose from caliper.
  6. Remove brake caliper and brake caliper bracket as an assembly and support with wire.
  7. Remove the rotor retaining push nuts from the wheel studs (if applicable).
  8. It may be necessary to strike the end of the hub or the rotor with a deadblow hammer to separate rotor from hub.
  9. Remove rotor by slowly turning the rotor while pulling the rotor away from axle.
