Leaf Spring Replacement: Removal

  1. Install the J-41602 to the hoist and raise and support the vehicle. Support the rear axle. Remove the lower shock absorber mounting bolt.
  2. Remove the leaf spring U-bolt and the lower plate retaining nuts. See Fig 1. Remove the leaf spring U-bolt. Remove the lower plate.
  3. Remove the anchor plate. See Fig 2. Lower the rear axle away from the leaf spring.
  4. Remove the leaf spring to spring shackle mounting nut and the bolt. See Fig 3. Remove the leaf spring to hanger mounting nut and the bolt. See Fig 4. Remove the leaf spring from the hanger.
