Installation Procedure

  1. Align the transaxle filler tube to the transmission and Install the transaxle into the vehicle.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE
  2. Install the lower transaxle bolt (6) and stud (1).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the lower transaxle to engine and engine to transaxle bolts to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).

  3. Install the wiring harness bracket to the side cover.
  4. Connect the neutral safety switch.
  5. Install the transaxle brace.
  6. Connect the transmission cooler lines.
  7. Install the transaxle brace. Refer to Automatic Transmission Brace Replacement 
  8. Install the right and left axle shafts into the transaxle. Refer to WHEEL DRIVE SHAFT REPLACEMENT -- FRONT .
  9. Connect the vehicle speed sensor

  10. Install the torque converter bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 63 N.m (46 lb ft).

  11. Install the torque converter cover.
  12. Install the filler tube bracket retaining nut on the transmission
  13. Install the frame.

  14. Install the front wheels. Refer to TIRE AND WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
  15. Lower vehicle.
  16. Remove the ENGINE SUPPORT FIXTURE
  17. Install the upper transaxle bolts (3, 4, 5) and stud (2).

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts and stud to 75 N.m (55 lb ft).

  18. Connect the wiring harness to the transaxle.
  19. Install transmission range selector cable bracket refer to Automatic Transmission Range Selector Cable Bracket Replacement  .
  20. Install the automatic transmission range selector cable on the manual shaft.
  21. Install the air cleaner assembly.
  22. Install the coolant recovery bottle.
    NOTE: Do NOT overfill the transaxle. The overfilling of the transaxle causes foaming, loss of fluid, shift complaints, and possible damage to the transaxle
  23. Adjust the fluid level.
  24. Inspect for fluid leaks.
