- If horns diagnostic system check was performed, go to next step. If horns diagnostic system check was not performed, perform HORNS DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Depress horn switch. If both horns operate, check for intermittent problem. If either horn does not operate, go to next step.
- Disconnect suspect horn. Connect test light between ground and horn harness terminal "B" (Dark Green wire). Depress horn button. If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 7.
- Connect test light between suspect horn harness connector terminals "B" (Dark Green wire) and "A" (Black wire). If test light illuminates, go to next step. If test light does not illuminate, go to step 8.
- Inspect for poor connections at inoperative horn. If problem was found, repair as necessary and then go to step 11. If problem was not found, go to next step.
- Connect a 15-amp fused jumper wire between positive battery terminal and control terminal of horn (Dark Green wire). Connect a second jumper wire between negative battery terminal and ground terminal of horn (Black wire). If horn sounds, go to step 9. If horn does not sound, go to step 10.
- Repair open or poor connection in horn control circuit (Dark Green wire). After repair, go to step 11.
- Repair open or poor connection in horn ground circuit (Black wire). After repair, go to step 11.
- Repair high resistance in horn control circuit (Dark Green wire) or horn ground circuit (Black wire). A resistance as low as.5 ohms could cause operating problems with horns. After repair, go to step 11.
- Replace suspect horn. After repair, go to next step.
- Operate horn to verify repair. If horns do not operate correctly, repeat test beginning at step 2.
