Removal & Installation (Driver-side)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove upper steering column cover. Insert stubby flat-blade screwdriver into triangular hole on rear of steering wheel. While pulling on corner of air bag module, turn screwdriver to release spring retainer. Repeat procedure for remaining 3 retainers. Disconnect driver-side air bag module connector. Remove driver-side air bag module. See Figure.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure all driver-side air bag module spring retainers are attached securely. Activate air bag system.
