  1. Observe AIR BAG warning light while turning ignition on. If AIR BAG warning light flashes 7 times, go to next step. If AIR BAG warning light does not flash 7 times, go to AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON .
  2. If AIR BAG warning light goes off after flashing 7 times, go to step  6. If AIR BAG warning light does not go off, go to next step.
NOTE: For circuit number and wire color identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Turn ignition on. Retrieve SIR DTC's. If scan tool communicates with SDM, go to next step. If scan tool does not communicate with SDM, inspect data link communication circuits.
  4. Retrieve SIR history and current DTC's. If DTC B0051 is retrieved, go to DTC B0051: DEPLOYMENT COMMANDED . If DTC B0051 is not retrieved, go to next step.
  5. If any other DTC's are set, diagnose specific DTC in order from lowest to highest. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) CHART  table.
  6. Connect scan tool to DLC. Turn ignition on. Retrieve SIR DTC's. If any history DTC's are retrieved, go to Diagnostic aids for specific displayed DTC. If no history DTC's are retrieved, system is functioning normally.
