Removal Procedure

Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

Disconnect the stabilizer link from the stabilizer shaft.

Remove the lower intermediate steering shaft pinch bolt. Discard the bolt.
Disconnect the intermediate steering shaft from the steering gear.

Disconnect the left outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.

Remove the Steering Gear mounting bolts.
Secure the steering gear upward for clearance.

Remove the rear transmission mount. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement - Rear .

If equipped with FWD, remove the rear transmission mount bracket to transmission bolts.

If equipped with AWD, remove the rear transmission bracket to power takeoff bolts.
Remove the rear transmission mount bracket.
