Removal & Installation (Side Impact)

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS . Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  2. Remove driver seat from vehicle. See Fig 1. Place seat on workbench. Unclip J-clips along lower edge of seat back. Remove seat back cover. Make note of side impact air bag wire routing for use during installation.
  3. Remove side impact air bag wire harness retainers. Carefully pull pigtail harness up into seat back while guiding wires through seat frame to prevent damage. Remove nuts from side impact air bag. Remove side impact air bag module.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure side impact air bag wire harness is positioned correctly. Tighten side impact air bag module nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Activate air bag system.
