Circuit Description

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 GMC Savana and 2002 Chevrolet Chevy Express. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

AIR BAG warning light is controlled by Sensing and Diagnostic Module (SDM). When ignition is turned on, AIR BAG warning light will flash 7 times, during which time SDM checks SIR system for malfunctions. If no malfunctions are detected, AIR BAG warning light will go off. If a malfunction is detected, AIR BAG warning light will stay on.

If ignition voltage is outside of normal operation range (9-16 volts), AIR BAG warning light will stay on with no Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC's) set.

NOTE: For circuit number and wire color identification, see WIRING DIAGRAMS .
