Removal Procedure

Head restraints are the double-post type that are adjustable either up or down. Only the solid type head restraints have serviceable trim covers
Removal of the head restraints can be accomplished by using the J 42372 or by fabricating a similar tool.
- Raise the head restraint to the full up position.
- Push the head restraint down just far enough in order to center the locking clip in the guide (4) between the detects (3) on the posts (1).
- Insert the J 42372 down the detent side of both posts (3).
- At the same time, hold both of the tools (2) down and lift the head restraint upward in order to disengage the detents (3) from the guide (4).
- Lift the head restraint out.
