Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator lines.
  2. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surface of the evaporator lines and the TXV.

    Important:  Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.

  3. Carefully slide the new sealing washers onto the evaporator lines until seated.

  5. Install the auxiliary TXV to the evaporator core.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  6. Install the auxiliary TXV to the evaporator core mounting bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 3.5 N.m (31 lb in).

  7. Remove the cap or tape from the A/C lines.
  8. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surface of the A/C lines and the TXV.
  9. Carefully slide the new sealing washers onto the A/C line until seated.
  10. Install the A/C lines to the auxiliary TXV.

  12. Install the auxiliary TXV line block fitting retaining bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 11 N.m (97 lb in).

  14. Install the auxiliary TXV line clamp to the HVAC module assembly.
  15. Install the auxiliary TXV line clamp screw.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screw to 1.6 N.m (14 lb in).

  16. Install a new foam wrap to the auxiliary TXV.
  17. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  18. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A. 
  19. Install the left lower quarter trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR QUARTER LOWER .
