Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant hose and the A/C refrigerant component.
Important: Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.

Carefully slide the new sealing washer onto the compressor end of the suction hose until seated.
Install the suction hose.
Remove the cap or tape from the compressor suction port.
Connect the suction hose to the compressor.
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
Install the suction hose to compressor nut.
Tighten

Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

Remove the cap or tape from the evaporator outlet tube and the auxiliary evaporator outlet tube.
Install a new sealing washer at the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube fitting.
Install a new sealing washer at the suction hose to auxiliary evaporator outlet tube fitting.
Connect the suction hose to the evaporator outlet tube and the auxiliary evaporator outlet fittings.
Install the suction hose to evaporator outlet tube fitting bolt (1).
Tighten

Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
Install the auxiliary evaporator outlet tube to suction hose nut (2).
Tighten

Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

Install the air baffle.
Install the air baffle bolts.
Tighten

Tighten the bolts to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
Lower the vehicle.
Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A.
Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
