Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:  The defroster door must be closed to allow clearance during defroster duct removal.

  1. Set the HVAC controls in the VENT mode to close the defroster door.
  2. Remove the IP carrier. Refer to IP CARRIER REPLACEMENT .
  3. Disconnect the mode actuator connector.

  5. Remove the mode actuator mounting screws.
  6. Remove the mode actuator.

  8. Remove the left HVAC module mounting bracket from the HVAC module assembly.
  9. Remove the right HVAC module mounting bracket from the HVAC module assembly.

  11. Remove the air temperature door and defroster door levers.
  12. Remove the air distribution cover retaining screws.
  13. Remove the air distribution cover.
  14. Remove the mode door from the HVAC module assembly.
  15. Remove the mode door levers from the mode door.
