Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts. Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and reposition.
  4. Remove the air cleaner cover and intake tube.

    Important:  Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables to prevent bending the cable housings.

  5. Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables from the TBI mounting bracket.
  6. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube. Refer to FILLER TUBE AND SEAL REPLACEMENT .

  8. Release the outlet heater hose quick connect from the outlet pipe (4).
  9. Disconnect the outlet heater hose (3) from the outlet pipe (4).
  10. Reposition the outlet heater hose clamp at the heater core using the J 38185.

  12. Disconnect the outlet heater hose from the heater core.
  13. Reposition the outlet heater hose clamp from the auxiliary heater outlet line using the J 38185. 
  14. Disconnect the outlet heater hose from the auxiliary heater outlet line.
  15. Remove the outlet heater hose.
