Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
  2. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts. Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.
  3. Disconnect the vacuum hose from the brake booster and reposition.
  4. Remove the air cleaner cover and intake tube.

    Important:  Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables to prevent bending the cable housings.

  5. Disconnect the throttle and cruise control cables from the TBI mounting bracket.
  6. Remove the transmission fluid filler tube. Refer to FILLER TUBE AND SEAL REPLACEMENT .

  8. Release the inlet heater hose quick connect from the inlet pipe (2).
  9. Disconnect the inlet heater hose (1) from the inlet pipe (2).
  10. Reposition the inlet heater hose clamp at the heater core using the J 38185.

  12. Disconnect the inlet heater hose from the heater core.
  13. Reposition the inlet heater hose clamp from the auxiliary heater inlet line using the J 38185. 
  14. Disconnect the inlet heater hose from the auxiliary heater inlet line.
  15. Remove the inlet heater hose.
