Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

  1. Install the heater door.

  2. Install the heater door lever.

    Important:  Align the slot in the heater door lever with the pin on the mode door lever.

  3. Install the right-hand mode door lever.

  4. Align and install the upper HVAC module case to the lower HVAC module case.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  5. Install the HVAC module lower mounting screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 0.9 N.m (8 lb in).

  6. Install the lower HVAC module assembly screw.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screw to 0.9 N.m (8 lb in).

  7. Install the heater core.
  8. Install the heater core pipe screw.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screw to 0.9 N.m (8 lb in).

  9. Install the heater core cover.
  10. Install the heater core cover screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 0.9 N.m (8 lb in).

  11. Install the heater outlet duct.
  12. Install the heater outlet duct retaining screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 0.9 N.m (8 lb in).

  13. Install the HVAC module assembly to dash panel sound barrier seal.
  14. Install the HVAC module upper retaining screw.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screw to 0.9 N.m (8 lb in).

  15. Install the right HVAC module mounting bracket to the HVAC module assembly.
  16. Install the right HVAC module mounting bracket screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 1.8 N.m (16 lb in).

  17. Install the air inlet housing.
  18. Install the air inlet housing retaining screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 0.9 N.m (8 lb in).

  19. Install the mode actuator.
  20. Install the mode actuator screws.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the screws to 0.9 N.m (8 lb in).

  21. Install the HVAC module assembly. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement .
  22. If necessary, adjust the mode door linkage. Refer to Mode Linkage Adjustment .
