Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
  3. Remove the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

    Reposition the left wiper arm linkage for access.

    Important:  The defroster door must be closed to allow clearance during defroster duct removal.

  4. Set the HVAC controls in the vent setting to close the defroster door.
  5. Remove the blower motor. Refer to Blower Motor Replacement .

  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the blower motor resistor.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the evaporator temperature sensor.
  9. Disconnect all of the HVAC actuator electrical connectors.
  10. Remove the IP carrier. Refer to IP CARRIER REPLACEMENT .

  12. Remove the evaporator outlet tube nut.
  13. Disconnect the evaporator outlet tube and evaporator inlet tube from the TXV.
  14. Remove the heater inlet hose from the heater core. Refer to HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - Inlet (with C60)  or HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - Inlet (with C69) .
  15. Remove the heater outlet hose from the heater core. Refer to HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - Outlet (with C60)  or HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - Outlet (with C69) .

  17. Remove the HVAC module to dash panel sound barrier nuts.
  18. Remove the HVAC module assembly from the cowl.
