Installation Procedure
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Important: Ensure proper alignment of the HVAC module assembly and HVAC module drain tube through the cowl.
- Install the HVAC module assembly to the cowl.
- Install the HVAC module assembly to dash panel sound barrier nuts.
Do not tighten the HVAC module assembly nuts at this time.
- Install the heater outlet hose to the heater core. Refer to HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - Outlet (with C60) or HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - Outlet (with C69) .
- Install the heater inlet hose to the heater core. Refer to HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - Inlet (with C60) or HEATER HOSE REPLACEMENT - Inlet (with C69) .
- Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the evaporator tubes and TXV.
Important: Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.
- Install the new sealing washers.
- Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the evaporator outlet tube.
- Connect the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes to the TXV.NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
- Install the evaporator outlet tube nut at the TXV.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).
- Install the IP carrier. Refer to IP CARRIER REPLACEMENT .
- Connect all of the HVAC actuator electrical connectors.
- Connect the electrical connector to the evaporator temperature sensor.
- Connect the electrical connector to the blower motor resistor.
- Install the blower motor. Refer to Blower Motor Replacement .
- Tighten the HVAC module assembly to dash panel sound barrier nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 10 N.m (89 lb in).
- Install the left wiper arm linkage.
- Install the left wiper arm linkage nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).
- Fill the coolant system. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
- Leak test the fittings of the component using the J 39400-A.
