Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant tubes and the A/C refrigerant components.

    Important:  Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.

  2. Install new sealing washers to the evaporator outlet tube.
  3. Install the evaporator outlet tube to the vehicle.
  4. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor suction hose.
  5. Connect the evaporator outlet tube to the compressor suction hose.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .

  7. Install the evaporator outlet tube bolt (1) at the compressor suction hose.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  8. Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the evaporator outlet tube.
  9. Remove the cap or tape from the TXV.
  10. Connect the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes to the TXV.

  12. Install the evaporator outlet tube nut at the TXV.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  14. Install the evaporator outlet tube bracket bolt.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolt to 5.5 N.m (48.7 lb in).

  15. Connect the vacuum hose to the brake booster.
  16. Connect the electrical connector on the evaporator outlet tube bracket.
  17. Install the left wiper arm linkage.
  18. Install the left wiper arm linkage nuts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nuts to 5 N.m (44 lb in).

  19. Install the wiper module cover. Refer to WIPER MODULE COVER REPLACEMENT .

  21. Install the cruise control module mounting bracket.
  22. Install the cruise control module mounting bracket bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 6 N.m (53 lb in).

  23. Install the cruise control module to the mounting bracket.
  24. Connect the cruise control module electrical connector.
  25. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  26. Leak test the fittings of the component using J39400-A. 
  27. Install the air cleaner assembly.
