Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant hose and the A/C refrigerant component.

    Important:  Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.

  2. Carefully slide the new sealing washer onto the compressor side of the discharge hose until seated.
  3. Install the discharge hose.
  4. Remove the cap or tape from the compressor discharge port.
  5. Connect the discharge hose to the compressor.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  6. Install the discharge hose to compressor nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  7. Install a new seal washer to the condenser side of the discharge hose.
  8. Remove cap or tape from the discharge port on the condenser.
  9. Connect the discharge hose to the condenser.
  10. Install the discharge hose to condenser nut.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the nut to 16 N.m (12 lb ft).

  11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  12. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A. 
  13. Install the air cleaner assembly.
