Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to LIFTING & JACKING VEHICLE .
  3. Fig 1: Air Baffle

  4. Remove the air baffle bolts.
  5. Remove the air baffle.

  7. Remove the suction hose to compressor nut.
  8. Disconnect the suction hose from the compressor.

    Important:  Cap or tape the open A/C hoses and A/C refrigerant component immediately to prevent system contamination.

  9. Cap or tape off the compressor suction port.
  10. Remove the discharge hose to compressor nut.
  11. Disconnect the discharge hose from the compressor.
  12. Cap or tape off the compressor discharge port.
  13. Remove and discard the sealing washers.
  14. Cap or tape off the discharge hose.
  15. Cap or tape off the suction hose.
