Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:  The defroster door must be closed to allow clearance during defroster duct removal.

  1. Set the HVAC controls in the VENT mode to close the defroster door.
  2. Remove the IP carrier. Refer to IP CARRIER REPLACEMENT .
  3. Fig 1: Side Window Ducts

  4. Remove the side window ducts from the defroster outlet duct.
  5. Fig 2: Defroster Outlet Duct

  6. Remove the defroster outlet duct to cross vehicle beam retaining screws.
  7. Using the J 38778  remove the lower defroster outlet duct retaining clips.
  8. Remove the defroster outlet duct from the cross vehicle beam.
