A/C Compressor Temperature Switch
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The A/C compressor clutch is protected from an overheating condition by a A/C compressor temperature switch mounted at the rear of the compressor. The switch is wired internally to the compressor and is not serviceable. The switch shuts off the compressor when temperatures reach 155°C (311°F) and allows the clutch to engage again when temperatures fall to 125°C (257°F).
