Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Install the retractor side belt (1) to the vehicle.
Install the retractor side seat belt anchor bracket (5) to the rear seat stud (4).
NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
Install the nuts securing the front seat/retractor side seat belt (1) lower anchor bracket to the floor.
Tighten

Tighten the front seat/retractor side seat belt lower anchor nut to 40 N.m (30 lb ft).

Install the seat belt retractor (2) to the center pillar (1).
Use the J 29843-9 in order to install the retractor bolt (3).
Tighten

Tighten the front seat belt retractor to 43 N.m (32 lb ft).

Install the plastic escutcheon (3) into the center pillar where the retractor side seat belt webbing exits.
Install the center pillar lower trim panel. GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - LOWER PILLAR .
Install the center pillar upper trim panels. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - UPPER PILLAR .
Install the nut securing the front seat belt upper guide loop anchor (2) to the center pillar.
Tighten

Tighten the front seat belt upper guide loop anchor nut to 29 N.m (21 lb ft).
Install the plastic shoulder belt guide cover to the adjuster bracket (2).
