Removal Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Remove the cover from the upper seat belt (1) anchor.
  2. Use the J 29843-9  in order to remove the upper seat belt anchor bolt (2).
    IMPORTANT: The lower seat belt anchor (4) attaches to the mini-buckle on the right side of the 60 percent seat cushion on vehicles equipped with a 60/40 split bench seat. Use a key or a small flat bladed tool in order to release the seat belt anchor from the mini-buckle.
  3. Lift the trim cover in order to expose the lower seat belt anchor bolt (5).
  4. Use the J 29843-9  in order to remove the bolt (5) securing the lower seat belt anchor (4) from the rear window pillar.
  5. Remove the cup holder/armrest trim cover (3) from the passenger's side.
  6. Remove the left body side front trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - LEFT BODY SIDE FRONT .

  7. Use the J 29843-9  in order to remove the bolt securing the seat belt retractor from the third pillar.
  8. Remove the seat side belt retractor from the third pillar.
