Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the thermostat.

  2. Install the thermostat housing and gasket.
  3. Install RTV sealer, GM P/N 1052366 or the equivalent, to the thermostat housing bolt threads.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  4. Install he thermostat housing bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the radiator hose to the thermostat housing. Refer to RADIATOR HOSE REPLACEMENT - Inlet .
  6. Install the crossover exhaust pipe. Refer to EXHAUST CROSSOVER PIPE REPLACEMENT .
  7. Install the air cleaner and duct assembly.
  8. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System .
  9. Inspect the cooling system for leaks. Repair as necessary.
