Disabling the SIR System

Important: Refer to SIR Service Precautions .
- Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
- Remove the fuse block access cover.
Important: With the SDM Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG indicator illuminates. This is normal operation and does not indicate an SIR system malfunction.
- Remove the SDM Fuse.
- Remove the LH insulator panel.
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) (3) from the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector (2) located at the base of the steering column.
- Disconnect the steering wheel module coil connector (2).
- Remove the RH insulator panel.
- Remove the CPA (2) from the inflatable restraint IP module connector (1) located behind the RH insulator panel.
- Disconnect the IP module connector (1).
- Remove the CPA from the inflatable restraint side impact module - LF connector (4) located under the driver seat.
- Disconnect the side impact module - LF connector (4).
- Remove the CPA from the seat belt pretensioner - LF connector (3) located under the driver seat.
- Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner - LF connector (3).
- Remove the CPA from the inflatable restraint side impact module - RF connector (4) located under the front passenger seat.
- Disconnect the side impact module - RF connector (4).
- Remove the CPA from the seat belt pretensioner - RF connector (3) located under the front passenger seat.
- Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner - RF connector (3).
