Removal (3.0L)

  1. Record all preset radio stations. Turn OFF the ignition. Partially drain the cooling system to below the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor. See Figure . Loosen battery cover screws and remove battery cover.
  2. Disconnect negative battery cable, then positive battery cable. Loosen battery hold-down bolt, remove battery and battery hold-down. Remove Underhood Fuse Block (UHFB) cover. Remove positive battery cable and Electric Power Steering (EPS) wire from B+ terminal at UHFB.
  3. Open all retainer clips and remove all cables, lines and harnesses from battery cooling box. Loosen UHFB block connector retaining bolts. See Figure . Unfasten UHFB from its housing and disconnect forward lamp harness.
  4. Remove battery cooling box bolts. Pull air inlet duct away from battery cooling box. Remove battery cooling box. Disconnect the ECT sensor electrical connector. Carefully remove the ECT sensor.
