Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the side door molding. Refer to Molding Replacement - Body Side Door (Oldsmobile)  or Molding Replacement - Body Side Door (Pontiac) .
    CAUTION: Refer to SAFETY GLASSES CAUTION .
  2. To release the push-in retainers, perform the following steps:
    1. 2.1. Drill a 3 mm (0.125 in) hole into the center locking pin of the push-in retainer.
    2. 2.2. Install a 3 mm (0.125 in) screw into the center locking pin of the push-in retainer.
    3. 2.3. Use a pair of pliers to pull out the screw and unlock the push-in retainer.
  3. Use a J 25070  to heat the upper edge of the molding retainer. Use a circular motion 152 mm (6 in) from the retainer for 30 seconds.
  4. Use a plastic flat-bladed tool to remove the retainer from the outer door panel.
