Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Important:  Apply the emblem/nameplate in an environment that is free from dust or other dirt that could come into contact with the sticky backing. Foreign material may cause improper adhesion.

  1. Clean the area where the emblem/nameplate will be installed.

    Use a lint free cloth and Varnish Makers and Painters (VMP) naphtha or a 50/50 mixture by volume of isopropyl alcohol and water to clean the area.

  2. Dry the area thoroughly.
  3. If the location of the emblem/nameplate has not been marked, apply tape and mark the location as shown below.
  4. For the CHEVROLET emblem/nameplate install as shown.

  5. For the VENTURE emblem/nameplate install as shown.

  6. For the PONTIAC VERSATRAK AWD emblem/nameplate install to the following dimensions:
    • Dimension (a) is 115.90 mm (4.563 in) from the bottom edge of the lift gate to the bottom of the PONTIAC emblem/nameplate.
    • Dimension (b) is 54 mm (2.125 in) from the bottom edge of the lift gate to the bottom of the VERSATRAK AWD emblem/nameplate.
    • Dimension (c) is 34.93 mm (1.375 in) from right edge of the lift gate to the edge of the PONTIAC emblem/nameplate.
    • Dimension (d) is 47.63 mm (1.875 in) from the right edge of the lift gate to the edge of the VERSATRAK AWD emblem/nameplate.

  7. For the WB emblem/nameplate install to the following dimensions:
    • Dimension (a) is 161 mm (6.338 in) from the bottom of the lift gate glass to the top of the emblem/nameplate.
    • Dimension (b) is 12.77 mm (0.503 in) from the center line of the lift gate to the center line of the WB badge.

  8. For the THUNDER emblem/nameplate install to the following dimensions:
    • Dimension (A) 100 mm (3.94 in)
    • Dimension (B) 235 mm (9.25 in)

  9. For the OLDSMOBILE emblem/nameplate install as shown.

  10. For the SILHOUETTE emblem/nameplate install as shown.

  11. Heat the mounting surface to approximately 27-41°C (80-105°F) using the J 25070,  if necessary.
  12. Ensure that the temperature of the emblem/nameplate is approximately 29-32°C (85-80°F).
  13. Remove the protective liner from the back of the emblem/nameplate.
  14. Position the emblem/nameplate to the location marks and press the emblem/nameplate to the mounting surface.
  15. Apply equal pressure along the emblem/nameplate to uniformly bond the item to the mounting surface.

    Important:  Do not touch the adhesive backing on the emblem/nameplate.

  16. Remove the protective tape from the mounting surface.
