Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
  2. Open the liftgate.
  3. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate .
  4. Remove the rear speakers from the liftgate. Refer to SPEAKER REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  5. Remove the high mounted stop lamp. Refer to HIGH MOUNTED STOP LAMP REPLACEMENT .
  6. Remove the license plate lamps. Refer to LICENSE LAMP REPLACEMENT .
  7. Disconnect the liftgate latch electrical connectors.
  8. Remove the rear washer hose. Refer to WASHER NOZZLE REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  9. Remove the rear corner upper garnish moldings. Refer to GARNISH MOLDING REPLACEMENT - REAR CORNER UPPER .
  10. Disconnect liftgate wiring harness connectors (2) from the rear body wiring harness (3).

  11. Disconnect the rear wiper motor electrical connector (7).
  12. Disconnect the rear window defogger electrical connectors (3).
  13. Release the wiring harness retainers from the liftgate.
  14. Remove the wiring harness from the liftgate.
