Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear wiper arm. Refer to WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  2. Remove the rear washer nozzle. Refer to WASHER NOZZLE REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  3. Open and support the liftgate.
  4. Remove the liftgate pull strap. Refer to Pullstrap Replacement - Lift Gate .
  5. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate .
  6. Remove the liftgate wiring harness. Refer to Wiring Harness Replacement - Lift Gate .

  7. Remove the rear speakers from the liftgate. Refer to SPEAKER REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  8. Remove the wiper motor. Refer to WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  9. Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.
  10. With a grease pencil mark the location of the liftgate hinge to the liftgate.
  11. Remove the struts from the liftgate. Refer to Strut Replacement - Lift Gate .
  12. With an assistant, remove the bolts from the liftgate hinge.
  13. With an assistant, remove the liftgate from the vehicle.
