Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. With an assistant, align marks on liftgate with liftgate hinges.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  2. With an assistant, install the liftgate hinge bolts.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the hinge bolts to 25 N.m (18 lb ft).

  3. Install the liftgate struts. Refer to Strut Replacement - Lift Gate .
  4. Remove the protective coverings.
  5. Install the wiper motor. Refer to WIPER MOTOR REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  6. Install the rear speakers to the liftgate. Refer to SPEAKER REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  7. Install the liftgate wiring harness. Refer to Wiring Harness Replacement - Lift Gate .
  8. Install the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Lift Gate .
  9. Install the liftgate pull strap. Refer to Pullstrap Replacement - Lift Gate .
  10. Remove the support and close the liftgate.
  11. Install the rear washer nozzle. Refer to WASHER NOZZLE REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  12. Install the rear wiper arm. Refer to WIPER ARM REPLACEMENT - REAR .
