Removal Procedure

Tools Required 

J 38778  Door Trim Pad Clip Remover

  1. Remove the rear seats. Refer to SEAT REPLACEMENT - REAR .
  2. Remove the rear quarter trim panel. Refer to Trim Panel Replacement - Rear Quarter Lower .
  3. Remove the body pillar upper trim panel. Refer to Garnish Molding Replacement - Upper Pillar .
  4. Remove the front door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement (Door)  or Door Sill Plate Replacement (Sliding Door) .
  5. Remove the rear audio controls. Refer to AUDIO CONTROL REPLACEMENT - REAR SEAT (PONTIAC) or AUDIO CONTROL REPLACEMENT - REAR SEAT (OLDSMOBILE) .
  6. Remove the body side front trim panel retainers using the J 38778. 
  7. Remove the body side front trim panel from the vehicle.
