Removal & Installation (8.1L)

- CMP sensor is located on engine block adjacent to camshaft. See Fig 1. Raise the vehicle. Disconnect the Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor harness connector at the CMP sensor. Remove the CMP sensor retaining bolt. Remove the CMP sensor.
- Inspect the CMP sensor for wear, cracks, or leakage if the sensor is not being replaced. Inspect the CMP sensor "O" ring for wear or damage. If a problem is found, replace the "O" ring. Lubricate the NEW "O" ring with engine oil before installing. To install, reverse removal procedure.
