Removal & Installation (5.0 & 5.7L - Upper)

- Disconnect the battery negative cable. Remove the engine cover. See ENGINE COVER . Remove the air cleaner intake duct.
- Disconnect fuel injector electrical connector, Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor electrical connector, EVAP canister purge solenoid valve electrical connector, Idle Air Control (IAC) solenoid electrical connector and Throttle Position (TP) sensor electrical connector. Remove the vacuum brake booster hose (if equipped). Remove the PCV tube at the intake manifold. Twist to unlock the PCV tube.
- Disconnect the spark plug wires from the left side of the distributor cap. Remove the fuel pipes from the rear of the engine. Remove AIR by-pass hose assembly, if so equipped. Remove the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve from the engine. See EVAP CANISTER PURGE VALVE REMOVAL & INSTALLATION in EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SYSTEMS under EMISSION SYSTEMS & SUB-SYSTEMS.
- Remove the accelerator control cable and the cruise control cable (if equipped), from the throttle shaft. Remove the accelerator control cable bracket from the throttle body and the intake manifold and set it aside. Remove the upper intake manifold bolts from the engine and then remove the upper intake manifold. Clean all sealing surfaces.
- Install the upper intake manifold to the engine.
