Removal (Rear Valve)

  1. Rear shut-off valve is located on rear cylinder head, near ignition coils. See Figure. Turn OFF the ignition. Disconnect the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor harness connector. See Figure.
  2. NOTE: Engine must be rotated forward for service access.
  3. Remove the air inlet duct from the MAF sensor and the throttle body. Set the park brake. Shift the transaxle into Neutral. Remove the engine mount strut bolts. See Figure. Swing the engine mount struts aside.
  4. Install the Engine Tilter Strap (J-41131) to the engine. See Figure. Pull on the engine in order to rotate the engine forward. Tighten the engine tilter strap. Remove the ignition control module and coils. See IGNITION CONTROL MODULE  under IGNITION SYSTEMS.
  5. Disconnect the AIR crossover pipe from the shut-off valve. See Figure. Disconnect the vacuum line from the shut-off valve. Figure. Remove the AIR shut-off valve nut. Remove the shut-off valve bolts from the manifold pipe. Remove the shut-off valve.
