Diagnostic Aids

NOTE: Do not solder heated oxygen sensor wires. Soldering the wires will result in the loss of the air reference to the sensor.

NOTE: Use the Connector Test Adapter Kit (J-35616-A) for any test that requires probing the PCM harness connectors, electrical center fuse/relay cavities, component terminals and component harness connector. Using this kit will prevent damage caused by improper probing of connector terminals.

Check for the following conditions:

Inspect the harness connectors for backed out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, and poor terminal-to-wire connections.
A damaged harness. Inspect the wiring harness for damage. If the harness appears to be okay, observe the scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to HO2S bank 1 sensor 2 sensor. A change in the display will indicate the location of the malfunction.

Reviewing the Failure Records vehicle mileage since the diagnostic test last failed may assist in diagnosing the condition. The information may help determine how often the condition that set the DTC occurs.
