Diagnostic Aids

NOTE: Do not solder heated oxygen sensor wires. Soldering the wires will result in the loss of the air reference to the sensor.

NOTE: Use the Connector Test Adapter Kit (J-35616-A) for any test that requires probing the PCM harness connectors, electrical center fuse/relay cavities, component terminals and component harness connector. Using this kit will prevent damage caused by improper probing of connector terminals.

Inspect harness connectors for backed-out terminals, improper mating, broken locks, improperly formed or damaged terminals, and for poor terminal-to-wire connections. Inspect wiring harness for damage. If harness appears to be okay, observe scan tool while moving connectors and wiring harnesses related to HO2S. A change in scan tool display will indicate malfunction location. Fault may be intermittent. See INTERMITTENT CONDITIONS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Reviewing failure records vehicle mileage since diagnostic test last failed may help to diagnose the condition. The information may help determine how often condition that set the DTC occurs.
