Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the valve rocker arm cover. Refer to VALVE ROCKER ARM COVER REPLACEMENT - Left  or VALVE ROCKER ARM COVER REPLACEMENT - Right .
  2. Remove the lower intake manifold. Refer to INTAKE MANIFOLD REPLACEMENT - Lower .
  3. Remove the valve rocker arms and pushrods. Refer to Valve Rocker Arm and Push Rod Replacement .
  4. Fig 1: Valve Lifters

  5. Remove the lifter guide bolts.
  6. Remove the lifter guide.

    Important:  Place the valve train parts in a rack in order to ensure that they are installed in the same location from which they were removed.

  7. Remove the lifters.
