Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install the oil cooler and the oil cooler inlet hose clamp. Ensure that the oil cooler seal is in place. Coat the seal with engine oil.

    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  2. Install the oil cooler connector.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the oil cooler connector to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

  3. Connect the oil cooler outlet hose to the oil cooler.

  4. Install the oil filter. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .

  5. Connect the knock sensor electrical connector.
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Fill the engine cooling system with engine coolant. Refer to DRAINING AND FILLING COOLING SYSTEM .
  8. Add engine oil as necessary. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  9. Inspect the oil cooler for leaks.
