Installation Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Pontiac Montana, 2002 Oldsmobile Silhouette, and 2002 Chevrolet Venture. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Using a small flat-blade tool compress the electrical contact and move the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly into position on the steering column.
    NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
  2. Verify that the electrical contact of the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly rests on the turn signal canceling cam.

    Install the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly screws to the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly.

    Tighten 

    Tighten the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly screws to 7 N.m (62 lb in).

  3. Connect the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connectors (2) into the steering column bulkhead connector (1).

  5. Reconnect the multifunction, turn signal and hazard switch assembly connector to the SIR coil assembly connector.
  6. Install the wire harness assembly (1) to the steering column wire harness straps (2).

  8. Verify that the lever is in the center or the OFF position.
  9. Install the steering column trim covers. Refer to STEERING COLUMN TRIM COVERS REPLACEMENT - On Vehicle .
  10. Install the steering wheel to the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  11. Enable the SIR system. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
  12. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to BATTERY NEGATIVE CABLE DISCONNECT/CONNECT PROCEDURE .
