Installation Procedure

Important:  The replacement compressor is shipped without PAG oil.

Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .

1. Add the proper amount of PAG oil to the compressor crankcase.
   NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
2. Install the compressor drain plug (1).

   Tighten 

   Tighten the drain plug to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).

3. Install the A/C compressor.
4. Install the 2 top A/C compressor mounting bolts.

   Tighten 

   Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

5. Install the bottom A/C compressor mounting bolt.

   Tighten 

   Tighten the bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).

6. Install new sealing washers. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .
7. Install the A/C compressor hose to the compressor.
8. Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the compressor.

   Tighten 

   Tighten the nut to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).

9. Connect the electrical connector to the A/C compressor.
10. Install the splash shield to the right side of the engine. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT -- ENGINE .
11. Install the lower air deflector. Refer to RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE AND DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - LOWER .
12. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Compressor Replacement (3.8L) .

13. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
14. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A  .
