Installation Procedure

Important: The replacement compressor is shipped without PAG oil.
Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .
- Add the proper amount of PAG oil to the compressor crankcase.NOTE: Refer to FASTENER NOTICE .
- Install the compressor drain plug (1).
Tighten
Tighten the drain plug to 20 N.m (15 lb ft).
- Install the A/C compressor.
- Install the 2 top A/C compressor mounting bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install the bottom A/C compressor mounting bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 50 N.m (37 lb ft).
- Install new sealing washers. Refer to Compressor Sealing Washers Replacement .
- Install the A/C compressor hose to the compressor.
- Install the A/C compressor hose nut to the compressor.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 33 N.m (24 lb ft).
- Connect the electrical connector to the A/C compressor.
- Install the splash shield to the right side of the engine. Refer to SPLASH SHIELD REPLACEMENT -- ENGINE .
- Install the lower air deflector. Refer to RADIATOR AIR BAFFLE AND DEFLECTOR REPLACEMENT - LOWER .
- Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Compressor Replacement (3.8L) .
- Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
- Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
